Every year, more than 150 countries celebrate World Post Day in a variety of ways, including introducing new postal technologies and products. In an internet dominated high-tech communications age, we often forget that the world postal network is the largest physical transportation network in the world, with 438 billion letters and six billion parcels handled each year. With increasing competition and economic pressures on international postal services, and young people especially going paperless out of convenience and environmental concern: is there a future for the mail? What would the economic impact be of losing postal jobs around the world?
