Across the world, rates of Diabetes are climbing. November 14th, the birthday of Canadian insulin discoverer Dr. Frederick Banting, marks a day to remind us all about how we need to do more to encourage prevention of this disease. The WHO estimates that over 346 million suffer from diabetes, with those numbers on track to double by 2030 without greater intervention. Simple measures that can be taken include thirty minutes of moderate intensity physical activity along with a moderately healthy diet, both of which can drastically reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes which is the most common, accounting for 90% of cases worldwide. Do you live with Diabetes? Help by sharing your story, and inspiring and informing others to be proactive about preventing this growing disease.
