World Health Day

World Health Day is celebrated each year on April 7, which marks the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO). It is an occasion to raise awareness of key global health issues. This year’s theme is hypertension, also know as high blood pressure. The aims of the day are to raise awareness of the causes and consequences of high blood pressure, encourage people to change behaviours that can lead to hypertension, to persuade adults to have their blood pressure checked regularly and to incite national and local authorities to create enabling environments for healthy behaviours.
