International Polar Bear Day

International Polar Bear Day takes place each year on February 27th to draw attention to the challenges polar bears face from global warming and how each of us can help.
People around the world celebrate this day as a day of action to take steps to reduce their carbon footprints. One easy way for individuals, families, schools, and businesses to join in is by taking the Thermostat Challenge. How? By adjusting their thermostats up or down a few degrees (depending on where in the world they live) to lower carbon emissions. We’re also encouraged to make every day a Polar Bear Day by buying and installing a programmable thermostat or taking other steps to reduce their energy consumption throughout the year.
